Red sea fan
Acalycigorgia sp
The Red sea fan is a gorgonian. It is unusual to find blue corals so these fans can make a nice contrast to an aquarium. They are a beautiful fan that requires moderate maintenance and specialist care.
A generous space should be provided for growth of the blue fan. It will do best at the middle to top of a reef aquarium, you will need to glue or milliput its base in place. It requires moderate to low lighting combined with moderate to high water movement within the aquarium. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
As the fan is not photosynthetic, it will require regular feedings of micro-plankton, small brine shrimp or filter feeding additives.
