The Common Clownfish is possibly the most popular marine fish available to home aquarists, it is fairly resilient, and especially the tank bred varieties which are enduring. Best kept individually or in a mated pair, they can be kept in groups in a large enough aquariums, but the largest usually will pick on the others. They are rarely aggressive towards other clownfish,
The common clownfish requires a tank of 90 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places. The ocellaris clown is reef safe and will not eat any corals or shrimps. The wild caught common clown will host in some anemones in captivity but is happy without it is rare for tank bred clowns to host in anemones. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but should be supplemented with meaty foods like brine shrimp and crustacean flesh.
