Arothron Dog Face Puffer
Arthron nigropunctatus
The Dog Faced Puffer is one of the more familiar puffers in the trade making it popular to all. A Peaceful fish it can be housed with others of its kind including other puffers that aren't more aggressive.
It requires a tank of 300 litres or larger with plenty of hiding places to help it acclimatize. The Dog Faced Puffer isn't reef compatible as it will eat ornamental shrimps and crabs. They usually adapt to prepared foods, but benefit from being fed fresh fish meat. The dog faced puffer will become a very tame fish in time, recognizing its owner and spitting water at them
A good idea when introducing new fish to the aquarium is to use live food to help the fish acclimatise
