Kole Yellow Eye Tang

Ctenochaetus strigosus

The Yellow eye Tang is popular with beginners and experienced aquarists due to its small adult size, striking colouration and relative hardiness. Best kept individually as it will fight with other similar looking tangs, but is peaceful with other species of fish. The appearance of the fish can depend on where it was caught, pacific fish have a spotted appearance, and Indian ocean bear stripes.

It requires a tank of 300 litres or larger with plenty open water for it to swim in and live rock for grazing on. Tangs will eat meaty foods, but should also be supplemented with vegetarian matter like Nori to keep them healthy. They usually adapt well to frozen and even dried foods, but benefit from the addition of some vegetable material like Nori.

Approximate Purchase Size: Medium 5cm - 7cm, Large 12cm-15cm
