Spiny Lobster
Panulirus vesicolor
The Spiny lobster is the most colourful lobsters in marine aquariums. Multiple specimens can be housed together in large aquariums but they do better on their own due to their adult size.
It requires a tank of 400 litres or larger with plenty of rockwork and a sand/gravel to burrow under and make a cave, it will spend all of the day under the cave and when it molts will hide until its shell hardens. The Spiny lobster isn’t reef compatible and when juvenile will prey on snails, crabs and urchins. When It grows larger fish that sleep in caves will be vulnerable to attack unless it is kept well fed
The Spiny lobster, like all inverts is intolerant to any copper based medications
